Upload your manuscript to arXiv before submission.
- Overleaf offers an option to export your manuscript into a single zip file that can be uploaded directly to arXiv
- many journals allow direct submission from arXiv (i.e. instead of uploading all TeX source files, the submission system downloads them from arXiv)
- version control: upload revised versions to arXiv
- after publication, add DOI to arXiv (link preprint to final publication)
